An MCP server gives an AI app tools and data. Run locally it uses stdio. To let more than one person or app reach it, you host it remotely over Streamable HTTP, and the specification has clear security requirements for that. Here is what the server needs and how to host it safely.

The Streamable HTTP section carries a security warning with three points:
Origin header on all incoming connections, to prevent DNS rebinding attacks. This is a MUST.127.0.0.1 only. Expose only the proxy on 443.An MCP server is code that an AI app may call with input you did not write. Treat its tools like an API exposed to the internet.
Replace the start command with your server. Check your MCP SDK for how it exposes the Streamable HTTP endpoint.
